The Trustees of the Wood Pension Plan are pleased to let you know that members aged 40 and over now have access to additional retirement planning support through Mercer Retirement Services. These services are being introduced to help you better understand your retirement options, plan ahead with confidence and access guidance and support when you come to retire.

Start planning for your future with destination retirement

You now have access to Destination Retirement, an award-winning online retirement planning tool designed to help you understand if you are on track for retirement and explore how your various pension and savings arrangements could work together to provide an income in later life.

The service allows you to model different retirement scenarios, understand your retirement income needs and build a clearer picture of your financial future. Registration is free and the service is already used by thousands of people as part of their retirement planning.

If your projected retirement income is lower than you would like, the tool can also help you explore the impact of changes you could make now, such as increasing your pension contributions, adjusting your target retirement age or consolidating other retirement savings. This can help you understand the steps available to improve your retirement outcomes and get back on track towards your goals.

Additional Support When You Are Ready to Retire

As you move closer to retirement, Mercer Retirement Services offers a range of guidance and support options:

These services include: 
•    Destination Retirement, which combines online planning tools with access to retirement specialists where additional support is required.
•    A signposted drawdown and annuity support for members who are considering how best to convert their retirement savings into income;
•    Personal financial advice for members who would like recommendations tailored to their individual circumstances.

Please note that some services may be subject to charges, which will be explained to you before any commitment is made. Before making any decisions about accessing your pension savings, we strongly encourage you to make use of the free and impartial guidance available through the Government's Pension Wise service.

Staying Safe from Pension Scams

Unfortunately, pension scams are becoming increasingly common, and fraudsters may use emails, phone calls, text messages or websites that appear genuine in an attempt to obtain personal or financial information.

To help you verify that this communication is genuine, details of the retirement support available through Mercer Retirement Services will also be available on the Wood Pension Portal. If you are ever unsure about a communication relating to your pension benefits, we encourage you to log into the Wood Pension Portal and check for further information there.

Please remember: 
•    Never share your passwords, security details or personal information with anyone unless you are certain of their identity.
•    Be cautious of unsolicited contact regarding your pension savings.
•    Take time to consider your options and seek guidance before making any decisions about your pension benefits.
•    If you are concerned that you may have been contacted by a scammer, please contact the Plan's administration team immediately.
